Black Clover Season 2 premieres in Japan on October 3, 2026, with Crunchyroll confirmed to stream the returning anime. Fans in the United States and Canada can get an early look at participating theaters on September 21.

More than five years after the original TV run ended, Asta’s story continues with the Spade Kingdom conflict. This is the follow-up often called “Black Clover Season 5,” now officially titled Black Clover 2nd Season.

When does Black Clover Season 2 come out?

Crunchyroll’s episode release time and the new season’s total episode count have not been announced. The 11 p.m. slot applies to the Japanese TV broadcast.

Is this Black Clover Season 2 or Season 5?

The official title is Black Clover 2nd Season. “Season 5” comes from the overseas numbering of the original anime: its 170 episodes aired from 2017 to 2021 and were released across four North American home-video seasons.

The 2026 series continues that story rather than restarting it. If you finished episode 170, there is no missing TV season to catch up on. The older Season 2 listings refer to part of the original run.

Where can you watch Black Clover Season 2?

Crunchyroll will stream the new season and carries the original series for viewers who want to catch up. An English-dub premiere date has not been announced.

In Japan, Anime Times, Lemino, U-NEXT and Anime Hodai are also listed as streaming services. Check the catalog available in your country before subscribing.

September 21 screenings in the U.S. and Canada

Crunchyroll Anime Nights will show a preview in Japanese with English subtitles. The program also includes The Vermilion Mask, Overgeared, Firefly Wedding and PSYREN, so expect a multi-title sneak peek rather than a standalone Black Clover film.

The event’s ticket page lists participating theaters in the U.S. and Canada. Check your chosen theater for showtimes and available seats; the screening is separate from the weekly streaming release.

Where does the new season pick up?

The Dark Triad’s attacks have left the Clover and Heart Kingdoms reeling. With Yami and William Vangeance captured, the Magic Knights face a rescue mission in the Spade Kingdom.

For Asta, that means confronting the devil power behind his anti-magic. His efforts to grow stronger carry forward the original anime’s closing storyline, with his comrades’ lives at stake.

If you need a refresher after the long break, revisit the original anime’s final stretch or watch the official first-season recap video. You can catch up without reading ahead into the manga.

Returning cast, studio and theme songs

Studio Pierrot returns, with Ayataka Tanemura directing. Gakuto Kajiwara returns as Asta, alongside Nobunaga Shimazaki as Yuno and Kana Yuki as Noelle Silva. The Japanese cast also includes Junichi Suwabe as Yami, Hiro Shimono as Nacht and Nobuhiko Okamoto as Liebe.

WANIMA performs the opening theme, “Kienai Riyu,” while ONE OR EIGHT supplies the ending song, “Yellow Brick Road.”
