Read Solo Leveling’s main story → side stories → Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. You can follow that route in manhwa or prose; reading both is optional. After anime Season 2, chapter 111 moves the webcomic story forward, while chapter 110 is a useful short overlap for material the finale handles differently.
Solo Leveling reading order at a glance
| Step | What to read | Where it belongs |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Main story: webcomic chapters 1–179 | Start with the prologue if included, then chapter 1. English print comic: volumes 1–13. |
| 2 | Side stories: webcomic chapters 180–200 | Read after the main ending. English print comic: volume 14, Side Stories 1, then volume 15, Side Stories 2. |
| 3 | Solo Leveling: Ragnarok | Start the sequel from its beginning. It has its own comic and novel versions. |
The 200 numbered webcomic chapters include 21 side-story chapters. A platform’s total can also include a prologue or announcement, so a menu with more than 200 entries is not necessarily a longer version of the story. The anime and games are not required reading steps.
Where to start the manhwa after the anime
| You finished | Continue from | For a little overlap |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1, episode 12: Arise | Webcomic chapter 46 | Reread chapter 45 if you want the comic’s transition out of the Job Change arc. |
| Season 2, episode 13 / overall episode 25: On to the Next Target | Webcomic chapter 111 | Start at 110 to catch material presented differently around the season ending. |
Use the second row only after finishing the whole second season, not immediately after its biggest fight. Chapter 111 continues beyond the Jeju Island aftermath; it is not a promise that the anime reproduced every earlier panel. Reading 110 first gives you a small buffer without restarting the series.
These are webcomic chapter numbers, not novel chapters or the chapters inside a printed book. On Tapas, for example, the first menu entry is labeled Episode 0. Select the actual chapter label rather than counting down to the 111th item.

Are the side stories worth reading before Ragnarok?
Yes. The main ending resolves the central conflict; the official side stories spend time on its aftermath, relationships and the bridge toward the sequel. They are not recap chapters or fan-made bonus material. Read them after 179, since opening them early reveals how the original journey ends.
In English print, Yen Press labels comic volume 14 as Side Stories 1 and volume 15 as Side Stories 2. If you have already read the extras digitally, those books collect that part of the route; they are not another sequel you have missed.
Is Ragnarok a sequel or another adaptation?
Ragnarok is a sequel, not a reboot, an alternate title for the original, or anime Season 2. It has its own comic and novel editions. Begin it from the start after the original route; its premise assumes a changed world and can spoil the earlier ending.
For English digital reading, choose Ragnarok — comic on Tapas or Ragnarok — novel on Tapas. For collected comics, start with volume 1 in the Yen Press Ragnarok comic catalogue. These links lead to different editions, not consecutive parts.
The sequel’s novel and comic do not share a reliable chapter-for-chapter handoff. If you switch formats, use the events you have reached to find your place, or begin the new format at chapter 1. A novel’s completion status also does not tell you whether its comic adaptation is complete.
Manhwa or novel: which should you read first?
| Choose this route | Start with | Why it may suit you |
|---|---|---|
| Comic / manhwa | Solo Leveling comic, volume 1 or the beginning of the webcomic | You want the action, expressions and scene changes presented through artwork. |
| Novel | Solo Leveling novel, volume 1 | You prefer prose and want to follow the story through narration rather than panel sequences. |
The English Yen Press novel edition runs through eight individual volumes. Read them in numbered order, including the final volume, before seeking the sequel. That eight-volume sequence is separate from the comic collection: “volume 8” means very different points in the two formats.
How to avoid buying the wrong English edition
- Check the series name: Solo Leveling or Solo Leveling: Ragnarok.
- Check the format: comic/manhwa or novel. An illustrated cover does not establish the format.
- Check the publisher and language: the volume ranges above refer to Yen Press’s English editions, not every international release.
- Match a digital stopping point with the book’s sample or contents. Printed comic chapter divisions differ from the webcomic sequence.
For digital reading, the Solo Leveling comic on Tapas identifies the original English comic. For physical books, use the Yen Press comic catalogue and check the edition label before buying. You do not need to open a new service for every part if your chosen edition already includes it.
Before committing to a digital service, check current access in your region and how chapters unlock. A free opening sample does not mean the entire original or sequel is free.
