1. WEBTOON
WEBTOON is the simplest first stop for readers who want a large, easy-to-browse catalog. Its English service separates curated ORIGINALS from CANVAS, where creators publish their own series. Depending on the title, readers may find freely available episodes, Daily Pass access or episodes unlocked with Coins.
Do not assume every episode of every completed series remains permanently free. Open the series page and check its current unlock label before beginning a long read.
2. Tapas
Tapas publishes both comics and prose, which makes it useful when a story exists as a novel and a comic adaptation. Its help center says many series are free while premium episodes can be unlocked with Ink or supported tickets. Eligible series may use Wait Until Free, where an episode becomes available after a title-specific waiting period.
Tapas notes that Wait Until Free is available in its mobile apps and that a WUF-unlocked episode remains open for a limited period. That makes it good for steady reading, but less convenient if you want to binge an entire completed series immediately.
3. Tappytoon
Tappytoon focuses on licensed comics and novels, including romance, fantasy and action titles. Readers can unlock content with Points, while its Time Till Free section identifies series that can be read gradually without paying for every episode. Its subscription adds recurring benefits and can reduce waiting or unlock costs on eligible content.
Treat the subscription as a benefit bundle rather than an all-catalog pass. Confirm the access label on the series itself.
4. Manta
Manta is the clearest option for readers who prefer a membership library. Its current help documentation describes Standard and Premium plans that include more than 300 titles in the Unlimited Library. It also uses Gems for comics or novels that are not covered by Unlimited access, including Buy & Keep releases.
This hybrid structure matters: membership can be excellent value if your reading list sits inside the Unlimited Library, but a specific title may still require Gems.
5. Lezhin Comics
Lezhin uses Coins for premium episode unlocks and publishes licensed series across several genres, including mature categories where available. Some title pages also show time-based free access, but the offer and interval are series-specific.
Check the language edition, maturity setting and title page before buying Coins. A series offered by Lezhin in one market is not automatically available in every region.
6. Toomics
Toomics centers its service on subscriber-exclusive comics across action, romance, fantasy and other genres. Its access terms state that membership covers designated subscription titles, while some store content uses Coins. It also warns that the available catalog may differ by region.
This works best for readers who want to explore multiple included series. If you only want one title, verify that it carries the subscription label before joining.

A platform with a generous membership is not useful if it does not carry your series. Start from the title, identify the official English edition, and then decide whether waiting, a subscription or permanent episode unlocks suit your reading pace.
