Swallowed Star’s main cultivation progression is Apprentice → Planetary → Stellar → Universe → Domain Master → World Master → Immortal. Planetary is also called Star Traveller, and World Master is often translated as Sector Lord. Earth’s Warrior, Warlord and War God grades belong within the Apprentice stage rather than forming three extra cosmic realms.
Swallowed Star cultivation ranks in order
| Order | Realm / aliases | Chinese |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Apprentice / Student | 学徒级 |
| 2 | Planetary / Star Traveller | 行星级 |
| 3 | Stellar / Star | 恒星级 |
| 4 | Universe / Cosmic | 宇宙级 |
| 5 | Domain Master / Domain Lord | 域主级 |
| 6 | World Master / Sector Lord / Realm Lord | 界主级 |
| 7 | Immortal / Undying | 不朽 |
The names in the same row identify the same broad rank, not consecutive promotions. If one discussion says Planetary and another says Star Traveller, do not insert an extra step between them. The Chinese term is a useful point of comparison when an English subtitle or guide uses unfamiliar wording.
Earth ranks: Warrior, Warlord and War God
| Earth designation | Place within Apprentice | Other wording you may meet |
|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Stages 1–3 | Beginner, intermediate and advanced/elite Warrior |
| Warlord | Stages 4–6 | General or Battle General |
| War God / Wargod | Stages 7–9 | Battle Lord in the early English novel translation |
The early novel describes fighters being assessed through both physical ability and battle records. A person’s tested fitness and recognized fighter grade can therefore differ. Someone who is physically capable of a higher performance may still need the record that earns the corresponding designation.
“Beyond War God” points beyond this Earth-level grouping, toward Planetary. It is not an additional realm that must be inserted between Apprentice and Planetary. Once the story introduces the wider universe, the same people can be described using that broader vocabulary.

Realm versus stage: how to read a level correctly
From Apprentice through World Master, the broad realms use nine internal stages. Reaching stage nine means approaching the top of that realm, not entering the first stage of the next one. “Domain Lord level 9” and “Sector Lord level 1” therefore describe opposite sides of a major breakthrough.
After Immortal, titles and further hierarchies become more involved. Do not extend the early one-to-nine pattern to every later name you encounter. A noble-sounding title or a description of combat strength may be a subdivision or distinction, rather than the next realm in the main ladder.
| Label in a scene | What to compare |
|---|---|
| Stellar level 9 vs Universe level 1 | Universe is the later realm; the internal number has restarted. |
| Star Traveller with a domain | Planetary cultivation plus a domain ability, not Domain Master cultivation. |
| Sector Lord vs World Master | Two English names for 界主, not two consecutive breakthroughs. |
What changes as cultivation moves beyond Earth?
At the Domain Lord–Sector Lord boundary, advancement changes more than a title. The original novel describes the move to Sector Lord as gaining an internal world and world energy. That is why a realm chart is more useful than imagining every promotion as another small increase in the same physical test.
Immortal, or Undying, stands beyond Sector Lord in the core ladder. The name should not be read as a guarantee that a character can never be defeated or killed. It identifies a kind of advancement, not immunity from the conflicts of the story.
Is a Spirit Reader a cultivation level?
No. A Spirit Reader, also called a Spirit Master in some English discussions, uses spiritual or mental power. Luo Feng’s early telekinesis makes the difference visible: controlling an object without touching it is a capability, not a new cosmic rank everyone must pass through.
Physical development and spiritual force can also advance unevenly. The early story distinguishes what Luo Feng can do with his body from what he can accomplish through spiritual power. Reducing both to one unexplained number loses the reason an apparently weaker fighter might be dangerous.
A domain is not the Domain Master realm
A domain is an ability involving a cultivator’s influence over the surrounding space. Domain Master or Domain Lord is a realm name. The words overlap in English, but reaching one is not the definition of possessing the other.
Hong provides a concrete example: the original novel describes him possessing a domain while he is a Star Traveller. You do not need his later story to see the distinction. An exceptional ability can appear before the realm whose translated name happens to contain the same word.
The distinction appears in the novel’s account of Hong’s domain; match the ability and the realm separately when subtitles use similar words.
Why realm alone does not settle every fight
Realm is an important baseline, not a complete prediction. Technique, spiritual attacks, equipment and preparation can all change an encounter. Winning against a higher-ranked opponent does not itself mean the victor has broken through to a new realm.
The same caution applies to claims about Luo Feng’s “current level.” A number without the episode or novel context can refer to a different point in the story. If you are trying to place the episode you are watching, match its named realm to the chart rather than using a future-character profile.
Later novel realms: name-only spoilers
Immortal is not the endpoint of the wider setting. The following sequence reveals later realm names, but not who reaches them or what happens to any character.
| After Immortal | Aliases / Chinese |
|---|---|
| Universe Venerable | Universe Knight · 宇宙尊者 |
| Universe Master | 宇宙之主 |
| True God | Universe Strongest / Universe Supreme Master · 真神 |
| Void True God | True God of Void Space · 虚空真神 |
| Eternal True God | 永恒真神 |
| Primal Chaos Sovereign | Primal Chaos Overlord · 混沌主宰 |
| God King | Godly King · 神王 |
Universe-level and Universe Master are particularly easy to confuse. Universe-level belongs much earlier, between Stellar and Domain Master. Universe Master is a later realm beyond Immortal and Universe Venerable. The shared English word does not make the two interchangeable.
For the later terminology, the opening of Swallowed Star 2: Land of Origin begins beyond the early cosmic ladder. It is a sequel, not an alternative numbering system for the donghua. The table stops at God King rather than mixing in every rank from the author’s connected fiction.
