Watch Demon Slayer in this order: Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve; Mugen Train; Entertainment District; Swordsmith Village; Hashira Training; then Infinity Castle. At Mugen Train, choose the movie or the TV arc instead of treating them as two compulsory steps. The World Tour compilation films are optional if you watch the TV episodes they contain.

2Mugen Train Arc / Mugen Train movieChoose the 7-episode TV arc or the movie. The TV version includes an original opening episode.
3Entertainment District ArcThe 11-episode TV arc. Continue here after Mugen Train.
4Swordsmith Village ArcThe full 11-episode TV arc, not only the World Tour film.
5Hashira Training ArcThe full 8-episode TV arc.
6Infinity Castle IThe first Infinity Castle film; the story continues from Hashira Training.

Use the arc names when searching your streaming library. Some services package Mugen Train and Entertainment District together under a season heading; others separate them. A season number alone is therefore less reliable than the title beside it.

Before Infinity Castle, the TV route totals 63 episodes. Choosing the Mugen Train movie instead makes that 56 TV episodes plus the movie. Episode lengths vary, so the count is a way to check your list rather than an exact viewing-time estimate.

Mugen Train: movie or TV arc?

Choose the seven-episode Mugen Train TV arc if you want the most complete episode-based route. The movie is a good alternative for a single sitting. Either version connects Season 1 to Entertainment District; skipping both would leave out a main-story arc.

You have watched the whole TV arcContinue to Entertainment District; the movie is an optional rewatch.

The original TV opening follows Rengoku before the main train story. The remaining episodes rework the movie material, with additions and changes in presentation. Watching only that opening after the film does not show you every small TV addition, but it lets you see its major separate story without replaying the whole arc.

Where does Infinity Castle fit?

Infinity Castle begins after Hashira Training. It is not an alternative beginning for newcomers, even if its artwork or action is what first brought you to Demon Slayer. The earlier arcs establish the people, relationships and conflicts the film expects you to recognize.

Infinity Castle is planned as three films. Watch the first after Hashira Training, then follow the later films in release order. The official English news page announced Infinity Castle I for Crunchyroll and digital release on July 28, 2026. This does not mean the complete trilogy is available.

Aniplex lists the first film’s digital options on the official Infinity Castle page. Check the services available in your country rather than assuming every streaming catalogue contains every arc. If you want to know how the film works as a viewing experience, our Infinity Castle review covers that separately.

If you watched a compilation without completing the preceding TV arc, go back to that arc first. Its final episodes will not supply everything that happened before them. Jumping ahead because a familiar scene appears is how an apparently correct watch order can still leave gaps.

Do you need specials, recaps or a filler list?

You can follow Tanjiro’s main anime story with the route above. Compilation recaps are optional when their underlying episodes are included, and comedy spin-offs such as the Kimetsu Academy shorts do not need to be inserted between the main arcs.

“Not directly from a manga chapter” is not the same as “must skip.” An original scene can establish mood or develop a character without blocking the story’s progress. Mugen Train’s first TV episode is a particularly clear example: choose whether you want its extra Rengoku material, rather than treating the word filler as a verdict on its value.
