The English manhua is still releasing; the novel is complete
WebNovel’s licensed English comic had added a release within the week before 31 August 2026. Its page credits Zhiyin Comic & Animation Company as publisher. For English readers, it was an ongoing release rather than a finished catalogue ready to read through to the ending.
The confusion usually begins with the source novel. Heavenly Silkworm Potato’s novel has been completed, and WebNovel lists its official English edition as Completed with 1,646 chapters. The manhua adapts that finished story at its own pace. A completed source gives the adaptation a known destination; it does not tell us when the comic will reach it.

Which Battle Through the Heavens is this?
The official English comic uses Battle Through the Heavens. The Chinese title is 斗破苍穹, commonly romanized as Dou Po Cang Qiong or Doupo Cangqiong. Fights Break Sphere or Fights Break Spheres also appears around adaptations and search results. These are useful aliases, not evidence that every page carrying one of them is the same licensed edition.
This guide concerns the manhua—the Chinese comic adaptation centered on Xiao Yan. It is not a status page for the completed prose novel, the long-running donghua, the live-action drama or fan fiction using the same world. Before comparing chapter counts, check whether the page says comic, novel or animation and whether it names a publisher.
Where to read the manhua legally in English
WebNovel carries the official English comic and its table of contents. Some chapters may require an account, the app or a paid unlock. A chapter appearing in the catalogue does not mean it is free, and access can vary by region.
Look for the comic credited to Zhiyin Comic & Animation Company. WebNovel also hosts the prose novel under the same English title, so check the format before opening a chapter or buying access.
Why does WebNovel show Chapter 515 and Chapter 513?
WebNovel’s first number is the catalogue position. The title attached to that position can carry a different story number. The live catalogue has included non-story items such as an announcement and a holiday entry, so its total number of entries has moved ahead of the numbered narrative. That is why catalogue entry 515 can legitimately be titled Chapter 513 without two story chapters being missing.
When changing editions, save the story title and the last scene you read as well as the displayed number. A prologue, announcement or differently split installment can shift the numbering. The larger catalogue total does not show how close the manhua is to the novel’s ending.
The completed novel is a separate reading route
If reaching Xiao Yan’s ending matters more than reading in comic form, the completed novel is an alternative. WebNovel’s English prose edition credits Heavenly Silkworm Potato. Switching formats means adjusting to different pacing and a different chapter system, not simply opening the same number.
There is no reliable one-line conversion such as “comic chapter 513 equals novel chapter X.” Even when an arc name is recognizable, adaptation cuts, reordered scenes and platform packaging make a numerical conversion fragile. If you switch formats, identify the current event and characters, then begin slightly earlier in the novel rather than trusting an unsupported conversion chart.
How often does the English comic update?
The catalogue showed a recent release on 31 August 2026, but no fixed weekly release day was confirmed. Check the latest dated entry before resuming; translation, production or platform scheduling can cause gaps.
A delay does not by itself mean cancellation. A formal hiatus, ending or cancellation needs a publisher or platform announcement.
What an English reader should do next
- Choose the manhua if color, character designs and a visual cultivation journey matter more than reaching the ending immediately.
- Choose the completed novel if you want the full main story and do not mind a substantially longer prose commitment.
- Stay with one official numbering system while reading; record the chapter title as well as the displayed number before switching editions.
- Treat the donghua as another adaptation, not as a chapter-by-chapter substitute for the comic.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Battle Through the Heavens manhua complete?
No. The official English comic catalogue was active and adding entries when checked on 31 August 2026. The completed work readers often remember is the source novel.
What is the latest official English manhua chapter?
On 31 August 2026, WebNovel showed 515 catalogue entries. The newest was displayed as Chapter 515 and titled Chapter 513 The Emperor’s Return. Use the story title as well as the number when looking for that release; later updates may have moved the catalogue on.
Where can I read it legally in English?
WebNovel carries the official English comic and credits Zhiyin Comic & Animation Company. Chapter locks, app access and regional availability may change.
Is the novel finished?
Yes. WebNovel labels its separate official English novel edition Completed. That status does not transfer automatically to the manhua.
Is the manhua the same as the donghua?
No. Both adapt the same source world, but they have separate production choices, pacing and numbering. An episode count cannot be converted directly into a manhua chapter count.
